Don’t ask me for beauty advice.

Ha. Not that you would, I’ve never purported to be a beauty expert. But occasionally I do get asked a beauty question. And by beauty, I mean hair and make up. I don’t really know much about either. So here’s the total litany of what I know and use.

Skincare: I use natural products and lots of oils. Don’t sleep with make up on.

Make up: I don’t use foundation, unless I’m going to an audition. I use a little under eye concealer, a little blush, a little powder, neutral eyeshadow, fill in my brows a touch, and add mascara…sometimes. I don’t use lipstick, just balm or gloss.

Highlighting and contouring are concepts I know exist, just not how they apply to me or anyone else. False eyelashes are an unknown alien, and lash curlers freak me out so much, most make up artists on sets can’t even use them on me. And I’ve never ever been able to apply liquid liner, nor will I ever.

Hair: I wash my hair every 4-5 days. I use a natural leave in conditioner, sometimes adding a little styling creme (read maybe once a month). I used to heat style my hair, but stopped that about ten months ago. Now I strictly no-heat style, if I style at all (honestly, sometimes I don’t run a brush through my hair for a couple days). I’ll use some heat style once in a while on the fringes around my face/ long bangs.

Also, if a hairstyle takes more than ten minutes to do, I won’t do it.

That’s it. That’s the compendium of my beauty knowledge, and for whatever it’s worth, it’s yours.
