There’s a lot of ‘expectation’ in our society. It’s often accompanied by a lot of ‘entitlement.’ But there is very little appreciation. I think that goes hand in hand with the focus we tend to have on what we are lacking, instead of gratitude in what we have. But everyone, and everything, needs appreciation. Your friends, family, and your partner. They all need to be recognized – damn do they need to be seen first, but then recognized for the things they do and the effort they make.

Taking someone, or something, for granted is the surest way to have that disappear, it’s been my experience. Not appreciating the invitations, the effort, or the attention a friend *or lover* gives is the surest way to ensure that it disappears. No one hangs around too long once they’re ignored, not seem, and taken for granted.

Same for ‘things.’ Nothing stays or works forever without care and appreciation. Your laptop won’t work if you throw it around and mistreat it. Your body won’t stay healthy if you constantly abuse it and put shit into it.

Nothing lasts without appreciation and care. So what do you care about?
