Random Sundays: Happy Day

It’s been a little nuts around here.  With Husband having been away and baby being whiny and teething *I think*, I’ve been quite low on energy.  But today I’m getting a bit of a break.  Wonderful.  And since I got a good night’s sleep, I’m feeling creative and energized to tackle some things I’ve been putting off.

While I get to that.  Here are some random shots.

I took these two while I was shooting Em&Blair

The neighbor’s dog.  He spends most of his days in the backyard, and the poor guy cries a lot.

A homemade, impromptu card for Husband.

True Story:
Baby dips her fingers in Husband’s coffee, licks them off, then goes, “Yum yum!”  uh-oh.

Oh Fail.

This shot was me trying to get into place on time, but I failed.  I just thought it was funny.  So I wanted to share it with you.

Sweater – made by my Babcia, Scarf – somewhere in Europe; Pants – Billabong.

So I tried to rag curl my hair yesterday after I saw a tutorial online.  It failed miserably.  I think maybe I did it too tight, or my hair’s too short.  I’ll try again sometime soon.  I’m determined to get it right ’cause it looks so cute when it works out.  Anyway, that’s why my hair’s up right now.  ‘Cause it’s a wild and crazy mess, but not in a good way.   Do you have ideas on how to wear your hair on a bad hair day?

You can’t tell from these pics, but it’s grey and rainy and wet today.  I’m spending the day inside watching Netflix.  Boo.

It’s raining!  It’s pouring!  Drake the Dog is snoring!  No really, he is.  Husband is away and Drake has been sleeping on the bed with me  – the guy not only snores, but moans and yips in his sleep too.  I don’t know what’s going on in his head at night but it’s clearly something exciting.

Since it is really coming down here today, and I’m feeling extremely lazy I’m posting some pics from two days ago when it was sunny and nice and I could take pictures outside.  I just don’t have any place indoors with good lighting.  And natural light is always best I think.

Also, I’ve been watching Terra Nova and even though it’s kind of cheesy and predictable sometimes *a lot actually*  I’m really liking it.  I think it’s something about any tv show with dinosaurs getting an automatic pass from me….that and aliens.  I loooove me some cool green men.  *that sounds wrong, but you know what I mean*  What do you guys think of it?

Hopefully Tomorrow

In this blog I try to be honest so here it is.  I don’t usually write a negative post because I always try to focus on the positive here, but honestly we all have those days:

I haven’t slept in three nights, I’m fed up with Baby, and I’m discouraged because of the several rejections I’ve received from agents.  Baby is definitely teething, so she’s a huge pill. And with how discouraged I am combined with the physical exhaustion I’ve got zero patience.  And that’s bad considering Husband just left for a business trip.  I need sleep, a babysitter, and a ‘yes.’ That would make my day a lot better.  Even just a ‘yes’ would really lift my day!  You’d think this would be easier considering I have a lot of experience and am currently hosting a national cable channel with over a million subscribers!  But apparently not.  Boo.

Also, I couldn’t even bother to get dressed today.  Just what you see – jeans and a top.  No make-up, and not even a shower.  I did, however, brush my teeth.  Just for you.

So basically, today sucks.  I’m sorry to be a negative nelly, but sometimes that’s where we are.  I try to look at the positive, but some days are simply crappy no matter what you do.  Some days are hard, and sometimes we all have trouble staying cheery and positive.  Today’s that day.  So I wish you all the opposite of what I’m feeling.  I hope you guys have a wonderful day.  And I’ll see you all tomorrow, when hopefully things will be better.  Hopefully, tomorrow will bring some metaphorical sunshine!

Slightly Altered

Is it a top, or a dress? It’s a mystery!  No, really it’s not.  Read on.

I really like this dress, but it’s actually really short on me.  Doesn’t look it in the picture because I’m not moving at all. But it’s so short, that now that I’m a little older I shouldn’t be wearing it.  But I really do love the pattern and cut.  So rather than give it away or stash it, I decided to alter it.

*side note: best outfit shots ever!  check out Baby!*

Top – F21 *altered*; Blazer – Esprit; Belt – AE; Jeans – Guess; Shoes – Payless.

Made it into a shirt!  I’m not a very handy woman.  But I do have some minor sewing skills.  I don’t however, own a sewing machine.  So I asked my lovely Mama and she was more than willing to hem this little number for me.

Now it’s a really cute top!

P.S.  Sorry no Tuesday In Review today.  I promise I’ll get back on track next week!

A Walk To Remember

So yesterday I mentioned the challenge of dressing for cool mornings and hot afternoons.  The shedding of layers meant that by the time we headed out for a sunset walk I was down to just a dress, hat and large sunnies.

It’s so great now that Baby is getting really good at walking because that means we all head out together and watch her waddle down the gravel path, picking things up and talking the whole way.

Her favorite part is when we get to the bridge and big rock where she gets her first look of all the ducks and Canade Geese on the pond.

My Father-In-Law is usually very proper, but sometimes he busts out some hilarious faces.  This shot was nabbed by Husband, and though out of focus, it’s one of my favs!

You can hear Baby yelling “Qua!  Qua!” all throughout the walk!  And she makes sure that everyone knows exactly what they are…just in case you were wondering.

While there, we witnessed a huge flock of geese landing on the pond.

Dressing Can Be Hard

Jacket – F21; Belt – Threadsence; Sweater – Costa Blanca; Dress – Guess; Boots – Feet First; Bag – Matt by Matt&Nat.

The weather is very weird and hard to dress for.  This morning when getting ready and when leaving it was chilly, but by about 11:30am it was humid and hot.  So it’s a matter of dressing in layers, and considering each layer as it comes.  For example, once the mercury rose a touch, I ditched the jacket, then I ditched the sweater leaving a belt around my waist for interest.  Finally, around 2pm once it got even hotter, I couldn’t handle anything constricting my waist any longer.  And out came the sun hat.  I’ll show you that tomorrow since it involved a fun walk around the pond with Baby and the In-Laws *down for Thanksgiving*

I could use more suggestions for dressing for such weather.  Any thought?

Just A Quick Little Note

Hi!  I’ll have an outfit shot for you guys later today.  In the meantime, check out part two of the engagement shoot I did.  I’m going to have turkey now….wrapped in bacon.  It’s Thanksgiving here in Canada!

Gobble! Gobble!

A Warm Stop-Over

Top – boutique in NYC ($10!); Shorts & Belt – F21; Socks – MacGregor; Boots – Feet First.

It was so deliciously warm yesterday that I got to wear shorts.  In October.  Hooray!  These pics were taken on a walk around the pond where the Canada Geese and various ducks are stopping over during their migration.  Which means that there are tons there right now.  And Baby loves to look at them, and yell “Qua! Qua!”  It’s absolutely darling to see her do this!

Oh, and I’d love it if you checked out part one of the engagement shoot I did.  Thanks!

True Story:
We saw a little German Sheppard puppy at the pond.
Baby was so smitten she just wanted to pet it non-stop.
Drake got jealous and pushed himself all up in there!

Voting 101

Jacket – Spotted Moth; Cardi – Anthropologie; Jeans – Guess; Shirt – thrifted; Scarf – street stand; Shoes – Payless.

Today is election day.  And I’m hoping everyone’s going out to vote.  Recently, us young people have been dropping at the polls.  We just don’t get out there to vote, and those younger than us get out even less.  I think it’s out general apathy towards things lately.  But I recently introduced a short film on Movieola the moral of which is the power of one individual to affect their environment.  And I think we underestimate what we can do.  Sure, my one vote won’t do anything.  But my one vote, coupled with millions of other ‘one’ votes can change the outcome of government.  So to my Canadian readers: vote!  And to the rest of my readers: vote when you can.

I’ll ask you this before I leave, why do you think people don’t vote?  Why do you think it’s a specific problem in the younger generation?

Side bar:  I’m absolutely in love with how soft this jacket is.  And don’t worry, it’s fake! Plus, the wide collar makes me feel all pimped up.  That’s not something I usually associate with myself.
