Day two in Ottawa was windy, can you tell?  It’s odd to sit here looking at these shots now that I’m back.  It feels ages ago, though it was only three days ago.  I guess that’s what a busy and tiring weekend will do to you.  I’ve had the pleasure of having three great photo shoots booked this weekend, so needless to say, I’m knackered!  But excited about editing and getting some Spring cleaning/downsizing done.

You guys doing Spring cleaning?  Any tips???

Well, as much as I’ve been hoping to put away my winter boots, the trip to Ottawa *where it’s even colder than Toronto* had me committed to creating outfits centered once more around these blasted boots! Despite this, the chance to get outfit shots along the river, traipse through uncharted territory made up for the unfortunate limitation of footwear.  As did the chocolate store I happened upon…

This week I had the joy of tagging along on one of Andrew’s business trips.  True, I didn’t go somewhere warm, but I did at least get the chance to get out of town, relax, and have some child free, roaming the city, alone time.  It’s bee fabulous.

The train ride to Ottawa was long but comfy.  I just get antsy easily.  And he headed off to work as soon as we were settled, but I headed up to Parliament Hill to bum around the Parliament buildings.

Meeting up for dinner was the highlight of the day, let me tell you.  Zen Kitchen in Ottawa is a gourmet vegan, locally frown gourmet restaurant.  The price tag is a bit high for daily fare, but the food is delicious.  The appetizer was so well presented and so delicious that I tore it apart before I remembered to take a picture!  I was able to contain myself a tad more when dinner arrived.  I had a delicious celery root filet with incredibly well seasoned veggies, and Andrew had falafel and Israeli coucous.  All were incredible.  I highly recommend the place if you’re in Ottawa.

The night was capped by some laughs at Absolute comedy with some of the top comedians in Ottawa – and they were very funny.  This is coming from a woman who is very critical of stand-up comedians.  But on the walk there we came upon this very uniquely named restaurant….Seriously, just read it out loud to yourself.

Some parents worry about their children heading off to school, or daycare, because of the tears their children shed.  I don’t have to worry about that particular thing.

Today, I dropped off the little one at a Kindergarten prep course.  Her very first class, very first time in the building, and very first time meeting these people.  She was off and running away from me before I even got her coat off.  Didn’t look back, not once.

When I came to pick her up the teacher said, “Look who’s here to get you!”  She turned, took one look at me and frowned, “You forgot my snack, ’cause I had snack time!”

Yup, no issues with independence or being left alone.  Really, we’re the transportation and snack providing machinery in her life.

Punk.

A Year’s Supply of Dove *giveaway*

As the weather changes here in Toronto, my thoughts always turn to how to help care for my skin during transition phases like this.  I like to be as gentle as I can on my skin, and I really quite enjoy Dove for that reason.  It’s the number one dermatologist recommended brand, and I like that it’s affordable, yet low on the Skin Deep report in terms of it ingredients.  So that means it’s gentle on your skin – something our skin needs considering how harsh we can be on it.

As you know exfoliation is key to good skin care; so I really like to use these body washes with my exfoliating gloves and that way I can really take care of my skin.  During these transition times with the changing of the season it’s especially important.  So, how about we help take care of your skin too?  Does that sound good to you, ’cause it sure sounds good to me!  How about a years supply of Dove?!

Apologies for being absent without cause for the week.  I’ve been led to the wayside by acting workshops, and auditions, and a shoot coming up in the next few days.  Thankfully, the weather promises to not drop to the double negatives for the next little while.  *Dare I hope that Spring has actually arrived at my little corner of the world?*  So as the weather warms, my motivations to venture outside the house and take more consistent shots will also warm.

Also, stay tuned for a fabulous giveaway next week!

Snow has started melting, as the rains have begun to pound.  Though the temperatures still swing in violent tantrums along the scales, there is the general feeling of warmth in the air.  As if believing it is enough to will it into existence.  In the meantime, I retreat to the comfort of an old tv show or book, and a cup of tea.
Maybe one day soon, I will be able to put my Winter boots into their annual slumber.

You guys all know by now that I’m not a Yoga practitioner. It’s just not my thing.  But I do love a good yoga inspired top, and not just for daily life, but also for my Kung Fu and Tai Chi training times.  This top from YogaOutlet is awesome.  I love the soft muted feminine colors and the stretch and flexibility of the material.  It feels like a cross between ballerina and yoga, but I’m gonna use it to look chic, kill 10Ks, and kick ass.

Of course, this particular day I wore it as part of a relaxing outfit for a day spent lounging and mucking about on my computer.  Which, as we all know, yoga wear is perfect for!

So I suggest checking out YogaOutlet to find those pieces for whatever you enjoy doing, be it dancing, stretching, punching, or doing jigsaw puzzles.

Busy few weeks coming up for me.  For everyone it seems.  Spring, right?  Rebirth, awakening.  It seems that everyone is moving suddenly and doing something.  Which is great.  I just wish someone would let the snow know that.  As in, “Hey, Snow, it’s Spring now so get your butt outta here!”
Moving on…

Her Go-To Poses

Dress – Mango //  Shirt – Gap  //  Boots – Call It Spring  //  Tights – HUE  //  Necklace – Ten Thousand Villages

These days whenever I try to take outfit shots guess who wants to run in there and ham it up for the camera?
Yup, that little pink booted girl.  She’s pretty awesome though.
Her go-to poses are the stick out tongue, the innocent smile, and the hands on hips.
She’s nailed those.
