To say that the gardens at Versailles are massive would be an understatement. They are hectares worth of massive.

They are expansive and there is a canal for a boat ride. There is a garden train that takes you to Marie Antoinette’s cottage because it takes that long to get there.

I could spend all day here. I couldn’t, as I was travelling with a young child, but I recommend walking it and taking the time to get a true sense of the grandeur. It’s stunning. And Louis had told them the fountains were to always work for him, so the fountains would turn on and off based on whether the King was there or not – too much to have them all going all the time.
