A Story All Of Their Own

Me and my darling babe playing on the swings!

Hat & Glasses – F21; Dress – vintage; Shoes – Payless; Belt – Spotted Moth.

First off, I’d like to say a warm welcome to my new followers!  You’re all awesome!  And I really hope you enjoy my humble blog.  It’s a genuine pleasure to write for all of you.  And your sweet comments always make my day.

I’m kind of obsessed with vintage dresses lately.  You may know of my general obsession with dresses, but the fact that these dresses are so unique and they have a history all their own really intrigues me.  I am small *not that I’m complaining*, so a lot of stuff doesn’t fit me all that well, but that’s why this belt is awesome.  It’s nice and thick and when I wrap it around me is suddenly makes things look like they fit.  I love this belt so much that I have another one in a tan color too!

Fun tidbit of news:  check out an article my friend was responsible for here.  It features a quote from me!

My Not-So-Graceful Marilyn Moment

So here’s some shots of the outfit I wore for Baby’s party.
I love that my dress twirls!
My hair was just not going to be straight with the humidity, so I just added some light curls to give it a little life.
Dress – handmade off Etsy; Hat – Ruche; Sandals – Zellers.
I love this little handmade dress.  When it came, I had to fix several of the seams because they weren’t done well, but really for $14 I couldn’t expect much.  And fixing seams is really easy so I’m not complaining…too much.  I really love the feminine feel of this dress.  Later that night I went to work, and walking down the street from the coffee shop I noticed something:  for some reason this dress makes my hips sway a bit more, and my back sit a lot straighter.  It just makes me feel a lot more lady-like and womanly.  And therefore, I think you’re going to see a lot of it!
P.S.  In that last shot my dress was caught by the wind and started rising right up.  It’s my Marilyn moment…only she handled it with a lot more style!

Hat ‘o Glory

Husband was impressing me as you can tell.

Hat – F21; Cardi – H&M; Top – AE; Jeans – Guess; Loafers – Town Shoes.

Here’s an outfit I wore a few days ago for a nice little stroll around our neighborhood.  I haven’t had an opportunity to post it yet, and I didn’t want to leave it too long, you know?

I love hats.  They’re my latest obsession, before that it was scarves and this season I seem to not be wearing many scarves.  I’m sure I’ll go back to them soon.  I tend to swing like a pendulum from on extreme to the other.  Soon, all my outfit posts will feature scarves!  Okay, maybe not all.

I’ve got a fun Saturday planned and I’ll share that with you all of course.  But for now, check out some more shots of my Posthuman shoot over here.

Happy Saturday!

P.S.  I’m so relieved that Baby’s fever broke and that now she’s sick but obviously getting better.  *breath of relief*

Sunday Can Be Arresting

Hat&Sunglasses – F21; Shirt – Smart Set; Shorts – Jacob; Sandals – Zellers.

It was very hot yesterday *yay!!!*  I wanted to wear long pants to cover all the bruises on my legs from the music video shoot , but seeing as that was just not possible I opted for Bermuda shorts.  They didn’t cover everything, but there was no way I would’ve made it through the day with long pants.  I spent a lot of time walking that day, and among the parks and shops and people cycling, I saw the other lovely sites of a large city:  someone getting arrested right in front of me and about three cop cars parked right there dealing with it.  Like I say, summer brings out the crazy in everyone.

What did you do with your Sunday?

Brightly Colored Shorts

Fedora – Cuba; Sunglasses – F21; Shirt – AE; Belt – AE; Shorts – Ruche; Loafers – AE.

It’s rainy and because of a lot of things I haven’t gotten dressed – just jeans and a clean shirt *at least I think it’s clean*  But!  It was beautiful and sunny a few days ago and I wore this little number, but I hadn’t had a chance to post it.  So here it is folks!  I absolutely adore the ruffles on the shorts and I have to say that it’s my first foray into colored shorts.  Only about two years ago did I start wearing shorts, and they were always black, but now not only am I wearing shorts, but they’re also brightly colored!  I love how fashion evolves with you.

On another note, I’ve been looking for a dairy free, soy free protein bar because I often need snacks and food on the go and I can’t really find one.  People have suggested things like Larabars, but to be frank, I don’t like them.  So I’ve concocted my own little recipe (it’s actually a twist on a recipe I came up with years ago) and I’m going to make them tomorrow night once I get all the ingredients.   I’ll be sure to post them and show you all how they turn out.  And most importantly, tell you how they taste.

Backyard BBQ

A teaser of my outfit…the hat wasn’t a part of it, just my go-to sun protection.

We really took advantage of the day today!  I had a run in the morning, and later we spent most of the time either in the backyard, on a walk or *wait for it*  watching Baby in her baby pool *shots of that later*  We had a lovely BBQ dinner out in the yard, and Baby loved gobbling up her chicken, and veggies while occasionally tossing some over the side of her high chair to Drake the Dog.

And I promise I’ll show you my garden soon! I swear, I haven’t forgotten.

Husband posing for the camera.
Baby’s still not used to the grass.

Flowers And A Garden

Hat – Ruche; Dress – Spotted Moth; Belt – F21; Shoes – AE.

It’s finally beautiful outside and my pasty self is coming out to play!  But not too much – big hats and sunscreen in full effect here!  I’m loving hats lately and simply can’t get enough of big floppy ones, and fedoras!  You’ll see a lot of those this summer.  And on the agenda this weekend is my garden – so hopefully I’ll have some veggies and herbs to show you soon.  That’s if my black thumb doesn’t get in the way.

True Story:  Baby loves to play “I’m Gonna Get You!”  I say it to her and she runs *crawls* away as fast as she can screaming and giggling until I catch her and tickle her.   So cute it kills me!

Let The Sun Shine In

Fedora – ?; Glasses – F21; Shirt – thrifted; Jeans – Guess; Flip Flops – Abercrombie&Fitch.

I spent most of the day outside with Baby today.  She loves the backyard, even though she’s very wary of the grass.  Other than that, it’s been an uneventful day.  Husband gets back tomorrow from his business trip and I’m looking forward to some help ’cause Baby has been giving me a run for my money in the nights.  I could use some sleep!

On another note, the music video shoot I was doing has been postponed on account of the fact that it’s thunderstorming tonight and tomorrow.  That means I have the day off – just an audition in the morning.  I hope I get it, ’cause I’d get to play a kick-butt assassin!

Re-Publishing Flowers

Hat – Ruche; Dress – Spotted Moth / Ruche; Belt – F21; Shoes – AE
Because blogger was down an erased my posts – I’m re-publishing!

Mother’s Day Outfit

Hat – Zellers; Glasses – F21; Shirt – Ruche; Vest – AE; Jeans – Gap; Shoes – AE; Ring – Smart Set; Earrings – F21

The dresses were great, but I’m so happy to be putting together different outfits now!   I’ve been meaning to wear these flares, like, forever!  And I finally got the chance.  They’re so long though that I have to wear a pretty mean heel with them.  That’s not a big deal, but I felt kind of proud of myself that I managed to spend the whole day walking around Toronto in these wedges.  It’s the little things you know???

If you have a moment, stop by here to read all about the Vicious Kid music video shoot and see some great photos.
