Jenny From The Block

31.8.12

Hoops & Vest - F21
Tee - thrifted
Jeans - Old Navy
Shoes - Ruche

While getting dressed I had J.Lo's "Jenny from the Block" playing on repeat inside my brain.  Now, though I have neither Ms. Lopez's dancing, singing, or booty ability, something inside me today demanded loose boyfriend jeans and hoop earrings.  Don't ask me what, 'cause I have no idea.

Sometimes it's better just to go with it.

August LookBook

30.8.12

Though summer doesn't officially end until September 21st, the end of August feels like the real end of summer.
Somehow, psychologically, that's where our golden sunsets and warm, lazy afternoons stop.
If only it weren't so.

Outfits in order of appearance:
1. "Trick Question"
2. "My Little Monkey"
3. "A Touch Harsher and Louder"
4. "One Single Moment"
5. "Montreal Je T'aime: Part 2"
6. "Don't Hate The Zebra"
7. "I Want To Be A SuperModel"

These Are The Best Days

29.8.12

Shirt - Joe Fresh
Dress - ShopSosie
Shoes - Modcloth
Necklace - Beau and Bauble

When I was fifteen I remember my mom saying she felt about sixteen.  At the time I thought, "Oh come on!  You're thirty seven!  Thirty Seven! That's practically a senior citizen!"  Being myself closer to thirty seven than fifteen right now, I know where she was coming from. It's sometimes unbelievable to me how fast everything goes.

While I don't feel sixteen, I do most days feel like I'm anywhere between eighteen and twenty two.  It's a stark realization to me that I'm no longer that age.

Side note: It also edges into creepy when boys *and I do mean boys* that age make a pass at me because, though flattering to my vanity, it makes me cringe with the notion that I could've been their baby sitter.

It's just weird to think how fast time flies and how I have absolutely no perception of it's passage except to one day realize that geez, I'm not 22 anymore.

True Story:
Coming downstairs and seeing my baby girl standing on a chair at the counter helping Daddy cook.
A chorus of her making sloppy stirring sounds, vrrrroooms!, and "I do it!"
Priceless.

Too Legit To Quit!

28.8.12

Earrings, Necklace & Pants - F21
Rings - Threadsence and Ruche
T-shirt - Lucca Couture

My new obsession is Palazzo pants.  I mean how awesome are they?!  Loose, free flowing and totally comfy pants.  It's like suddenly being allowed to wear sweatpants in public!

The best part was that for biking I had to tie my polka dot shoe ties around my ankles so as to not get the pants caught in the spokes and it totally made me look like M.C. Hammer in U Can't Touch This!  I'd like to think I'm just as cool and just as well accessorized. I've never met James Brown though.

p.s.  they are the best PMS pants ever.  Loose with an elasticized waist for those days that you suddenly feel like you're larger than the entire Atlantic and Pacific oceans combined.

p.p.s. Did I mention the elasticized waist?

New Baby!

27.8.12

Dress - Dear Creatures Avila Dress
Sweater *sold out* & Shoes - Modcloth
Brooch - Beau and Bauble

I'm excited about my new baby!  The blue one with the basket in the pictures here.  Why?  What did you think I was talking about? My new blue baby girl is wonderful.  I'm calling her Lolita, because she's a young, gorgeous ingenue with a very coquettish side to her.  So welcome to the family Lolita.

Since arriving, I've put her straight to work.  She's been up, down, east, and west across this fair city and I know she and I will be doing it many times more.   It's just me and her with the wind at our backs.

True Story:
Baby Girl was counting the muffin holes on the tray.
She counted, "One, two, three, four..."  then decided held up a finger in the air and announced "Nine!"
There were six.
Still, not bad for a 2 year old.

Don't Hate The Zebra

24.8.12

Dress - Threadsence
Belt - F21
Shoes - Ruche
Necklace - Lustre boutique in Montreal

I'm clearly obsessed with this new necklace of mine.  I've already worn it three times already*here and here* and I can't see myself getting sick of it anytime soon.  So I hope you don't hate it and don't get sick of it either.

On another matter, I can't seem to get my butt into the salon for a cut.  This mop of mine needs some styling but for some reason I just keep delaying it and wondering if one day I won't wake up with magically cut hair.  That happens, right?

Quote of Today:
"My butt has never been so sore!"

...with fictional exploits of my imaginary life.  With the jaunts, the wishful thinkings, and the could-have-been of my fantasties.  Let me captivate you with all the possible presents, and the likely futures.  Let me regale you with all the things that are becoming. The wonders and the miracles.

Just don't ask me to tell you of my failures, or my dreams unfulfilled.
Can you miss an opportunity that never existed?

Objects In Motion

22.8.12

Tee - Gap
Skirt & Belt - F21

An outfit with no shoes because I had no plans.  No need to leave the house and therefore no need to put on shoes.  It was a day when I could sit, and stop moving.  When the only exertion required on my part was that of a leisurely walk around the pond with Baby Girl.  And for that, whatever shoes were in proximity of the door sufficed.  It was a moment when things stopped for a bit.

True Story:
I think it's becoming a habit, this stealing of my shoes.

Montreal Je T'aime: Last Blast

21.8.12

Dress - Garcia Jeans
Necklace - Lustre
Shoes - Payless

The last night was spent eating and walking around the old town at night.  Not too much excitement, but a lovely evening none the less.  It left a quiet, peaceful memory.  I tip my hat to you Montreal. You are charming.

p.s.  On another note, I'm in a contest to win the title of "Ruchette" and I'd really appreciate your support.  If you'd like to support me please go to the Ruche photo of me and hit like.  If you share it counts as another vote too!  I would really appreciate the support from you, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Montreal Je T'aime: Dramatic Darkening

20.8.12

  Necklace - Etsy
Dress - Monteau
Shoes - Payless
Another outfit from the trip to Montreal.  You can't tell because sadly, I didn't get detail pics of it, but I'm wearing my Daenerys Stormborn necklace.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you won't understand the cool factor...or the nerd factor.

Side Note - No make-up (just a load of white sunscreen), and humidity flat hair, but whatever.  I'm not always a supermodel *read: never*

As the sky darkened with drama we changed and headed out for dinner and drinks.  But more on that later.

Montreal Je T'aime: Part 2

19.8.12

Day two in Montreal was spent with a climb up Mont Royal for the view, a line up at Schwatrz' deli for their amazing smoked meat *and I do mean ah-may-zing!* and just seeing more of this fabulous city.

Dress - Ruche
Belt & Ring - F21
Necklace - Beau and Bauble

The one thing that I wasn't a fan of was the high humidity while we were there.  My hair just went limp and it nearly drove me to the point of cutting it all off *not really, I'm just being dramatic*  But I did have to find new and fast ways of pinning it out of the way.  Some were more successful than others.

Oh by the way, yes I did go to the top of Mont Royal in a pretty ruffle dress and ballerina flats while everyone else was jogging and biking in full exercise gear.  Why?  Because I didn't bring any sneakers, and because I like a pretty ruffle dress and don't see why a gravel path means I can't wear one.

Montreal Je T'aime Part 1

18.8.12

Dress - Smart Set
Shoes - Payless
Jewelry - c/o Bijous Caro

Our first day in Montreal was bittersweet.  The sweet being a wonderful receptionist who upon hearing it was our anniversary decided to gift me an entire set of her handmade jewelry!  Right up out of nowhere she asked me to choose a piece.  When I chose the necklace, she said, "Well, this is part of a set" and she reached for the matching bracelet and earrings as well.  I was stunned by this sudden wave of generosity!  The other sweet:  The delicious duck breast in espresso and honey sauce that I had for dinner.  And for the bitter, it rained, poured down on us as we rushed back to the hotel in the evening.

But the street performers were our entertainment throughout the entire weekend!

Sleepy Head

16.8.12

Dress - Everly
Hat & Belt - F21
Shoes - Payless

Spending three days in Montreal was wonderful!  Ate so much great food, spent so much time walking seeing the city, and got three baby free nights of sleep.  What am I most excited about?  The three baby free nights of sleep!  I love my sleep.

Kind of sad, I know.  But hey, simple dreams.

Will work for sleep.

You Make It Work

15.8.12

Dress - bought in Spain
Boots - Threadsence
Belt - American Eagle
Earrings - F21

A tripod, a backyard, a remote control, and a curious toddler equals some fun shots, but also some shots in which the blurred face of your baby girl investigating the beeping light takes up most of the frame.

When you're a mama, you got to make it work!
I'm slowly learning that art.
It's a work in progress.

Scene Stealer

14.8.12

Top - Maddy...K
Shorts - Ruche
Shoes - Payless
Earrings - handmade gift

There I am trying to take some outfit shots and Drake up and walks in and pees in them again!  That dog is such a ham and scene stealer.  I just love him.

Happy anniversary dear Husband.  You've survived in the same house with me for 8 years, and I haven't smothered you for your snoring...yet.

"Hang in there."
